To Weigh or Not To Weigh

January 9th, 2010 - To weigh or not to weigh, boy everyone has an opinion on this. Sometimes I am amazed on what folks will ask you. So have you lost weight? To which I want to reply, no are you still having that acne problem? Which is followed by the person's lame apology, no I just mean, like I am looking at you, and like you look like you maybe lost weight. To which I say oh yeah, no problem, I was just looking at you and noticed maybe, you had fewer zits.

Seriously, should getting healthy mean watching or monitoring your weight. Should you never weigh, should it be daily, weekly, hourly. Should you have a stand up scale like in the doctors office - the problem with this scale is when the nurse weighs you she is in a hurry, so she starts tapping her finger as you pull off your shoes, socks, jewelry, belt, remove change from your pockets, AND remind the nurse you just drank 8 ounces of water. Since she is in a hurry she does not give the scale a chance to really let the arrow lay precisely in the middle. Thus she will usually put your weight as more than you really weigh. Or perhaps you should have a talking scale. Now this is a fun one, however don't try it out when you are purchasing it, unless you want the entire store to hear a strange ladies voice shout out how much you weigh. It will be heard by anyone within 50 feet of the store. I know someone that happened to once (OK it was me) and I still can't go back to that store without folks snickering. Or perhaps you want the weight watchers scale, this one not only gives your weight but lets you know your percent of body fat, and whether or not you are drinking enough water. If you stand just right it can also let you know if you will meet the man/woman of your dreams.

So that is my dilema, I don't know what to do. If I decide to weigh, which scale, if I don't weigh, will I always wonder. What would you do? As for me, I haven't busted any of the elastic on my sweats, so ...so far so good.
