January 5, 2010 - Well, now that I have resigned myself to the idea that exercise will need to be a permanent part of my life (I will keep you updated on my progress from time to time using the buzz word - Pain, which stands for, Physical Activity Is Nofun ) it is time to move on to the next change in my life - Healthy Eating. I thought healthy eating would be all about what I could eat, instead, healthy eating is about everything you can't eat, how much you can't have, and where you can't go to not eat as much as you like? Even when you finally do get to what you can eat, is is about what you can't put on it, how small the portion needs to be, and by the way, before you eat are you really hungry or are you an emotional eater.
When the nutritianist said, "healty eating requires you to eat 'X' amount of the different food groups", I thought I had it made. I layed it out for her starting at the top, Meats/beans/fish and nuts (no problem, I love ribs, chili, fish sticks and chocolate covered peanuts) Dairy (I am covered, I eat ice cream daily) Fats and Oils (I love crusty french bread with dipping oil, fruits (part of my breakfast routine is always a pop tart or toaster strudle) vegetables (french fries and fried onion rings the perfect side dishes) and grains (I could eat spaghetti everyday). She was so impressed with my eating habits, she could barely speak, instead she smiled, made some notes and said, "we do have a lot of work to do" (seems that is what my exercise Czar said also). So let the journey begin, and I will just keep snacking on these cheetos until I am sure where I am going.
