May 13th, 2010 - You say it's your birthday, It's my birthday too... As promised this is the one day that I celebrate for my birthday, not a month, week, weekend, or two days, just today. Many people frown when it is their birthday, fears of growing older and another year flown by. But me, I love my birthday, as for getting older? Many folks never live to celebrate their 59th birthday, so I consider myself lucky to have reached this ripe old age. Besides you know what they say about the fifties, they say they are the new forties, and since I am still in the fifties...I am in the forties, and the forties that I remember were GREAT.
So, along with birthdays comes well wishes, gifts, maybe go out to dinner, and just special attention all through the day. I could lie and say I hate it, but too many of you reading this know me to well, and know that I love it, I relish in it and all the attention itself is like another special gift to me. So bring it on, make my day. Sing to me, decorate my office, bring me a cake, send me a card, everything you do for me is special and I will cherrish the memories long after the day has passed. I still chuckle about a birthday when I was driving to work and found signs along the road that said, "Lordie Lordie, look who is forty". I think the person who wrote the signs is reading this blog. And once I came home to black baloons all over my house and front yard, that is when I turned thirty. When I turned fifty, my dear husband gave me a surprise party, that was a real blast, especially since I really never guessed something was being planned. I also am a Mother's Day baby so many times, just like the year I was born, I get a combined Mother's Day and Birthday gift. At first I thought I was getting gypped. But then I realized the gifts were better, more special, and in the end as long as you are remembered who really cares.
So like I said, I love my birthday and I am going to have a great day and count all my blessings because dispite my age, I still have a family, lots of friends, and people who really want to celebrate my birthday. Far be it from me to take that away from them. P.S. For those family members who might be reading, don't forget I am all about surprise sixtieth birthday...
