Signing up would be simple..at least that's what I thought

Dec 28, 2009 - So today I joined the health club at work...That sounds really simple, ahh but the work and toil and sweat involved to join, well now that was the hard part. It started by first having to fill out the form and admit to myself that yes, I was out of shape, and I needed to become more fit. Once completed and I skated around the weight question (Sure I do weigh 120, it did not ask if that was all I weighed) I then had to walk through two buildings, very long buildings, with no people movers. We are talking over 1200 steps just to get to the place where you sign up, never mind that I was still going to have to walk back to where I started from. Between you and me this was considered my first workout. My heart rate goes up just thinking about it. Once I handed the form to the clerk she gave me the customary once over...I could almost here her say, "well it's about time". She issued me my very own locker key, and quickly took my cash. We then walked to the gym itself to check out the facilities. There is nothing like a friend showing you around the place. Did I mention that the friend has been going to the health club for awhile and is loaded with stamina and pride. She picked up the 10 pound hand weights like they were nothing. Meanwhile I was still struggling to find hand weights less than a pound. I settle on a snickers bar, light and airy. One in each hand and you are set. After the tour and a quick try of the tredmill (everything is an incline, there is nothing to make it feel like you are going downhill) we headed back to the office where I started from. I was beat, my heart was pumping, I had sweat running down my forehead, my muscles were on fire and I wrote a note to building services asking them to install people movers. I knew that I already must have lost some weight.....at least that is what I thought.
