The first step is the hardest
Dec 29, 2009 - Day 2, trudged through the two buildings again to get to the gym. You can't imagine the looks and smiles I was getting. I was beaming, I just knew folks were so impressed seeing me two days in a row. Smiling at me and whispering to their friends, I almost wanted to say thank you. It was then that my friend or should I say my 'workout Czar' leaned over to me and said, " tomorrow lose the jewel bag as your workout bag, folks are looking at us". We quickly changed into our workout clothes and tennis shoes. Strange but my workout clothes look an awful like like my sleep clothes, clean the house clothes, and run to the store clothes. In fact since we worked out late in the day, they are now my go back to work clothes. Hey we are in rough economic times, you need to have versitility. Anyway I hit the gym floor at full stride, at least 10 steps behind my workout Czar. You have to do at least 30 minutes of cardio (cardio is work out talk for getting your heart pumping) I pick up on lingo all the time. 10 minutes on a stationary bike and I was beginning to sweat, peddling full force. It was then that I noticed my partner was rotating twice around for everyone of my half peddles (she really is a show off). After I successfully cleaned my equipment (thank god my clothes can be used as cleaning clothes also) we moved to the tredmill. Now I was cooking this is my zone. I happen to have a tredmill at home and believe me it gets a workout. Sometimes I get on and off so many times in a minute, deciding if I should work out that I've worn out the rubber padding. 20 minutes, well to be exact it was 18 minutes and 32 seconds, and I was lathered in sweat, breathing heavy, and all my muscles were screaming slow down. You can't imagine the pace you are moving when you are walking at a clip of 2.2 miles per hour. From there we moved to the exercize and strengh training room. My Czar pulled out a mat and a ball. She told me to sit, I dove for the mat, she meant the ball. Tricky, as balls take balance and that is another area I need work in, but that is for another day. Wobbles and all I made it through arm strengthing on my biceps and triceps, I think I also had some unicepts and they got worked too. All this followed by stretches, which I will say left me feeling good. Really good. I made it through a real work out. I thought it would be easy, it was not. I thought I would be self-conscience, I was not (well I was but not nearly as much as I thought I would be), I thought it would wear me out, it did. But it also left me feeling really good about myself. I worked out for me and I felt good. I thought I couldn't do it, but I can, I did and I will continue to do so.....but now I am going to sit in a hot tub and soak my 'cepts' - unicepts, bicepts and tricepts
